Meetings are at 7pm Woodhaven Presbyterian Church, 3650 N. O'Connor, Irving. This is a boy lead troop with close adult supervision. There are 30-40 boys with 15+ adult leaders to help them. It is well organized and it runs smoother than any other troop in Irving. We believe in having fun but advancing the boys to Eagle (one of the highest percent in the area.) Campouts are important and we make them fun with variety. Repelling, Canoe trips, Christmas Family Campouts and more. Summer camps are fun and also with variety in Tx., Ok., Ark, and Colorado. Philmont Treks have been every 2 years for the last 12 years. Also Sea Base in Florida. The size troop is important since if it's too small, then there is not much leadership learned; and if too big then the boy gets lost or forgotten. There are many adult leaders that help make everyone's work small and manageable. Many of the leaders are Woodbadge Trained and several are Silver Beavers. 8 of the last 10 silver beavers in Circle 10 were from T508. There are also doctors, dentists, lawyers, teachers, and firemen among the leaders. There is an active Explorer Group with the troop for the older scouts. Most important the scouts learn leadership, honesty, morals, and character traits that will stay with them the rest of their life. Troop 508 has a long history of nearly 50 years of service to boys and Irving. Come visit us. It's worth the drive.
