The Troop 508 Base Camp

__Back Pack: With good hip belt; Straps for attaching sleeping bag, ect.
__Waterproof Pack Cover, (large garbage bag will work, but take a couple spares)
__Sleeping Bag with stuff sack and plastic bad liner
__Ground Pad, (light in weight and non-bulky)
__Hiking Boots, (sturdy, good fitting, and broken-in)
__Camp Shoes or Sandles, (for use in camp)
__Heavy Socks, (wool) [2 pair]
__Sock Liners, (polypropeline) [2-3 pair]
__Underwear, [2-3 pairs]
__T Shirts, [3]
__Long Sleeve Shirt
__Long Pants
__Light Weight, but Warm Clothing, to be used only for sleeping
__Shorts, [2 pairs]
__Jacket or Windbreaker
__Rain Gear (Good rain gear is a must -- you may need to use it everyday)
__Compass and Topographical Map (purchase map at Philmont)
__Water Bottles, (At least three quart capacity, in at least two seprat bottles -- do not bring only one big bottle)  I cary two Nalgen's (1 quart each) pluss a 2.5 quart blader
__Bowl or Pan, (for eating, I recomend plastic)
__Cup, (plastic is better)
__Spoon, (you will NOT need a fork)
__Tooth Brush & Paste
__Soap, (camp suds<®> or the like)
__Towel, (backpacking towel is best)
__Comb/Hair Brush
__Sun Glasses (UV protection)
__Sun Screen, (SPF 15 or higher, due to high elevation)
__Bag for personal items in the bear bag
